A family affair

Hi all.
Monday is here, so sad the weekend came to an end. It was one of the best so far this semester.  For Cute boy and me, the weekend festivities began on Thursday night in an empty whole-in-the-wall dive bar downtown.  We joined KTWag and her bf for all you can drink night.  Cute boy and I had lots of catching up to do since we did not lay eyes on each other at all during the school week. We both were busy catching up on school work and spending time with our friends.  Although I didn't realize it at the time, the 4 day break from each other was actually great for us.  We were so excited to see one another by the time Thursday night rolled around! Our night downtown was a great weekend kick off.  Friday the bars were also pretty empty since many Gator fans had travelled to Tennessee for the away game on Saturday.  I tagged along with Cute boy and his fraternity brothers around midtown since BFrazz was out of town and KTWag was dog-sitting for a friend.  At BALLS we drank well cocktails, stood on benches and belted out the power ballads of the 90's.  It was great!  I kept up with the boys pretty well for a 5 foot-nothing sorority girl.  Nobody got too crazy though out of respect for the Gators and their big away game the next day.  Saturday was a great day for a Florida football game. Cute boy's family was in town and watching the game with us.  So I put on my cutest game day orange and blue, made seven layer dip and skipped over to Cute boy's house to meet the parents and watch the Gators dominate the Vols! WhooHoo! Everyone loved my dip and was super nice.  I'm so happy I got to meet his family while they were up here visiting.
As if that wasn't enough excitement for one weekend, the next day I dragged Cute boy to St. Leo where my younger brother goes to school to meet my family.  I didn't think he would actually come since we had to wake up early and he would miss the majority of the Dolphins-Patriots game on Sunday afternoon.  But he came with me anyway, which means so much to me.  In just a few short hours he was able to sense that I am a clone of my mom who is also my best friend.  And that my brother and I are siblings that actually get along and like each other.  My dad even called me out during lunch for liking Cute boy so much that I was extremely nervous to meet his family.  Thanks Dad! Altogether it was a really great day.  Nice to see the family, happy they were able to meet and approve Cute boy.  The Dolphins beat the Patriots.  And we had a great bonding sesh in the car from St. Leo back to Gville.
The awesome Family Weekend came to an end.  Now back to busy school work and tri-training.  The big race is only 4 weeks away! Cute boy and I are going on a dinner date tonight but the rest of my week is going to be pretty lame.  Im going to have to hold off on having fun until the weekend when my brother is coming up to watch the Gators play Ole Miss here in the Swamp!

A Gator Game-less Weekend

No Gator game this weekend to celebrate so we made our own social activities.  Friday night B.Frazz and I went out early for drinks.  We had barely seen each other this week and needed to catch up.  Then we met up with Cute boy and his friends after enjoying a few very cheap pitchers of beer.  We went to a less crowded bar where the boys could play beer pong as the girls chatted on the sidelines and cheered them on.  GPod, Bfrazz's bf, was also there with his close friends, so there was lots of blending of the friend groups. Very exciting! We had a great time there and proceeded to walk home at closing time.  Barefoot of course, those heels were hot but not so great for the journey home.  Sat morning we (Bfrazz, Cute boy and I) hit up one of our fave Gainesville breakfast places, Peach Valley, (also G.Pod's work place) for some yummy recovery scrambled eggs.  B.Frazz has always been on "Team Cute boy" and is very excited to see us hanging out more and more.
Later in the afternoon we caught some rays by the pool.  It was fabulous to get some sun after a very rainy couple of weeks.  While we were there we planned a lovely evening to host a football party.  We invited friends over to our Mousey Housey to watch USC slaughter OSU.  It was not a very exciting game, but we were happy to see OSU lose. Bfrazz and I love to hostess, and arranged for a table full of delicious apps that went very quickly once the gang arrived.  We also ordered pizza and had plenty of beers to keep the boys happy.  Im happy that Cute boy decided to come so he can continue getting to know the rest of our friends. He is just so great and always knows how to put a smile on my face.  We already have planned our week of upcoming TV shows, so excited! And we are working on getting tickets to the Brad Paisley concert in October.  Yay!
Now that we have cleaned up the house after our little shindig, I must get to my homework before going to babysit this afternoon.  Have a great week! Next Sat. the Gators play the Vols in Tenn.
Go Gators!

Fall has begun

Hey yall,

Happy Fall! The summer just flew by and fall semester rolled right in.  School work is already taking over my life.  The girls and I moved in to Mousy Housy and it is just adorable.  We were so sick of decorating in Pink and Green that we decided to go for a more grown up "Pottery Barn" look when we pulled all of our furniture together.  It is sweet and cozy, a great place to call home for the next 2 years.  Gainesville is great, its hot and sunny and we havent had too much hurricane weather lately.
My latest and greatest idea is that I am going to race in a triathlon coming up in October.  I have been training since the last week of summer and have just a few more weeks left to get ready.  I am very excited! My goal is simply to finish the race. Alive. And not dead.  That is all.  Then when race season starts back up in March I will try to improve my times.  Training has been a great way to keep me busy since the girls and I are no longer active in the sorority.  Although we miss it at times, it is also nice to feel more grown up and independent.
There is a new boy in town that has been so great.  I've known him for a few years but just started really getting to hang out over the summer. We had a few fun nights out at midtown before he left on a road trip.  When he left we didn't really keep in touch, but ever since he has been back we have been hitting it off and spending a lot of time together.  We are both TV gurus and always have a new show to watch as an excuse to see each other.  He is from my hometown which is nice.  I am trying to convince him to come watch my race in October.  That way he will meet my darling family as well.  If he sticks with me through that weekend, then I'll know he is a keeper for sure!  Haha! Thats all for now.

Im Back...

Hi all!
After taking a blogging break for a few months, I am now back in full force.  A ton has happened since my last post.  Here is a quick re-cap... My darling boyfriend from Old South dumped my butt after Spring Break.  I had a great time being single for the rest of the semester.  I celebrated my 22nd birthday with all the love nesters and soon after had to sadly move out of the sorority house and leave the room where we had made so many memories: the love nest.  At the time, no tears were shed as Becky Bear and BFrazz were graduating and we were all moving our different ways.  Now looking back its sad and I miss living all together.  Now I am spending the summer living with Bfrazz in a tiny little apartment where we get to snuggle.  We will be moving in to a cute little house, "Mousy Housy" in August with KTWag where we will be able to spread out a little.  I am taking electives this summer, nothing too difficult.  KTWag is back in the ville taking classes now also.  I can't wait to see her face! I've missed her for the last 6 weeks while she was home and I have been here.  I am still babysitting for the chitlins.  The oldest just turned 7 and the baby just had his first birthday!  They are growing up so quickly!  Well, I am off to my first class of Summer B... And then hopefully out to celebrate the semester later this evening...  :)

Dixie Darlin'

Old South weekend in Savannah, GA was the time of my life! I met some really great new friends, drank cold beers and danced the nights away with out a care in the world. My darling bf took care of me the entire weekend and was sweet as ever. I had a blast meeting his buds and all their adorable dates. We spent the first night out on the town at a tavern called Moon River and then spent all day Saturday walking up and down River St. and meeting up with friends until all the "Southern Belles" needed to start getting ready for the ball. With our big hoop skirts and costume dresses we all looked perfectly in character, especially when we met up with our "Soldier" boys in uniform. We had to walk a few blocks where we were asked to take pictures like Disney characters with small children and newlyweds. So funny! The ball was held at a beautiful plantation-like mansion called the Olde Pink House. Here we had a yummy dinner and danced all night in the ball room. I felt like a princess twirling around in my dress! It was fabulous. Needless to say, I was in need of some major rest when I got back to G-ville.
Now, here I am back to grind stone of school work and babysitting. Counting down the hours until Spring Break begins... A midterm tomorrow and early morning class on Thursday are the only things standing between me and a day spent tanning by the pool with a margarita in hand. What a fabulous day that will be....can't come soon enough.

A Not So Wild Wednesday

Hi all!

Monday's midterm went well. Tuesday's presentation was a success. Wednesday, nothing productive whatsoever. Tuesday night we had a sorority date function called "Draft-A-Date" that put me over the edge. I brought the bf, obvi. Isn't he cute?!?! We dressed up in army and camo and went out with all our friends and their drafted dates for such a fun night. We boogied down! (And bf claims he hates to boogie.) haha. So much fun that I had to spend most of my day recovering in the lovenest. I watched some darling episodes of A Baby Story on TLC and some old Reba re-runs. I felt up to par around 2:00, just in time for me to get ready for babysitting. Luckily the rest of my week is not filled with too much school work. Tomorrow hopefully it will warm up so I can lay out before my big weekend and Katie (another love nester) and I will grab manis and pedis in the afternoon. Then Friday we are packing up and heading to Savannah for bf's Fraternity Formal called Old South. Can't wait for some quality time with the boy and all his buddies. Although we have not been together for very long, I find myself liking him more and more every day. Luckily, Katie is going to Old South with her bf too so I will have a potty partner and we can get ready together. The weather is supposed to be beautiful, and I have always heard that Savannah is a great city. I'll be sure to post pics when we get back.
The count down is on for Spring Break '08...8 days and counting! Woohooo! Key West, here we come!

Happy Sunny Day!

Hi all,
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I know I did! Friday night kicked off the weekend with a fabulous Girl's Night Out. We were all so excited for our first night out wearing dresses this Spring! Most who saw us four girls boogie down to the 80's Tunes may have been scared off, but those who joined in with us had the time of their lives! Our boyfriends will never leave town without us again... We proceeded to drink $2 pitchers of cheap beer and took over 80 pictures throughout the evening. The night came to an end when a sweet fraternity boy drove us home to our sorority house so that we didn't have to walk all that way in our cute high heels!

Saturday was a relaxing rainy day when two of the love nesters went out of town for the night. They left me and Becky-Bear to a fun night of Moe's burritos, Old Navy deals, and Target must-haves. These are some of my fabulous finds. (Stacy and Clinton would be so proud!)
Shopping is limited around these parts of town, so the girls and I have to get creative in our searches for the perfect Spring Break staples. Key West better watch out, they won't know what hit 'em after the love nesters leave town! If our latest Girl's Night is any indication of what might go on in the Keys, I'm going to need to rest up before that trip... At least I will look fabulous while I'm there!

Today was a sunny day for laying out by the pool (in my new Old Navy black bikini) after church and a lunch date with the boy. So happy he is back in town. Now the girls and I are off to take our friend, Miffy, to dinner in celebration of her one-year anniversary with her boyfriend, Mike, who is overseas in the Marines. Congrats Miffy! You are the strongest girl I know!
Tomorrow is my first midterm exam of the semester, so wish me luck!

Hi all

Welcome to Preppy Gator! I am so excited to share my life and my favorite things with everyone. I am a 21 year old sorority girl studying to become an elementary school teacher at the University of Florida. I live in my sorority house in a room called the "Love Nest" with my 3 best friends. I love shopping, scrapbooking, and all things pink, preppy and fabulous. I love to boogie and go out with my friends. Since we are losing one of the love nesters in May who is actually graduating and moving into the real world, we are trying to live it up in our last semester all together. I am going to have all the nesters posting updates on Preppy Gator as well so that we all stay in touch by documenting our shenanigans. This is the first time in our 3 years of being best friends that we all have boyfriends, so the love nest is full of love right now with all the withering roses our bf's sent us for Valentine's Day (My favorite day of the year). awww.
I am also a babysitter 3 times a week for a family with 4 adorable children. The tots are all under the age of 7 and so much fun to be around. I look forward to sharing silly stories about my many adventures with them. My favorite shows are on TLC and I will openly admit that I enjoy living vicariously through the mom I babysit for. I am originally from South Florida and plan on moving back to teach whenever I get around to graduating and leaving Titletown, USA. I live and breathe Gator football in the fall and shop year-round for Orange & Blue accessories.
Off to the gym now...Workin on my fitness for Spring Break 08! woohoo!
